Register a Drainage Project
As of 2015, ALL drainage projects in Saskatchewan require approval—regardless of when they were built—through Saskatchewan’s regulator, the Water Security Agency (WSA).
How to Apply
To begin an application, start by contacting your local WSA office.
About the Process
The Water Security Agency website provides an overview of the Drainage Application Process.
Qualified Persons (QP) are available to assist you with the technical aspects of the drainage design and completing the application form. QPs are also very helpful with the overall communication process. To ensure a successful application, communication is essential, and it starts with you as the applicant.
However, if you have additional questions about a drainage application or a drainage project, SaskFSA is your most important resource. Reach out to one of the SaskFSA Board of Directors in your area.
Register an Irrigation Project
Irrigation is essential in areas and/or during times of low moisture. However, developing an irrigation project may be complex and take farmers anywhere from four to 24 months to complete.
All irrigation development in SK must be approved through the Ministry of Agriculture and in coordination with WSA. The Ministry of Agriculture will assist you with your irrigation development to ensure you are meeting all the regulatory requirements in Saskatchewan.
How To Get Started
Contact the Ministry of Agriculture to discuss the proposal and the irrigation development proposed project.
